Fond Memories

One my fondest memories of living in Wichita happened one spring day about 40 years ago. My family had just moved to Wichita from Little Rock, Arkansas. My Dad had taken a job at the Veteran's Administration Hospital as the Chief of Surgery. When my Sister and I were told about the move, we weren't very happy. Little Rock is a beautiful place and we had many friends we would miss. But ever since that spring day many years ago, Wichita has been, "Home."
We went down to Riverside Park and found the old Boathouse where we rented bicycles to ride through the park. I remember that my Mom and Dad rented a "bicycle-built-for-two" and my Sister and I had separate bicycles. We road all over the park and had a great time. This is one of my fondest family memories. I've left Wichita a couple times; the first to go to KU and then to follow my parents when they moved to Texas. But I've always come home to Wichita. It is where I feel most comfortable. It is where I want to raise my children. And it is where I hope my children raise their children.
