Wichita's economic growth and dedicated aerospace employees are positively associated with America's aviation history.
For example, Wichita, Kansas, with its prestigious moniker of air capital of the world, is home to five aircraft companies, Beechcraft, Boeing-military, Bombardier, Cessna, and Spirit Aerosystems. Moreover, Wichitans generously support the Kansas Aviation Musuem with its historic air traffic control tower and World War II-era (1939-1945) planes and B-29 heavy bomber.
Lastly, at McConnell Air Force Base, dedicated to Wichita's aviation pioneers, prominently displays a vintage B-47, a testament to the City's important role during the Cold War, 1945 to 1991.
